GP Consultations
Standard GP consultations are 15 minutes, conveniently available in-person or virtually via phone call or video. Please book a double consultation for 30 minutes if you have multiple issues to discuss, ensuring our GPs have sufficient time to address your concerns. For urgent needs, same-day appointments are available. Please call 098460002 to schedule an urgent consultation.
Immunizations
Childhood immunizations and many other vaccines are provided free of charge to our enrolled patients. While it's the patient's responsibility to track vaccines, we offer reminders and recalls for eligible patients. Check with our nurses to see if you qualify for complimentary vaccines. Click here to view the New Zealand funded immunization schedule.
Repeat Prescriptions
For repeat prescription requests, kindly allow up to 2 business days for processing, or 3 if it's complex and requires GP advice. In order to receive your repeat prescriptions, patients are required to schedule GP consultations every 3 months, 6 months, or 1 year as directed by their GP. Same-day urgent prescriptions are available for an additional fee.
Lab Results
Your lab results are accessible online on our patient portal, Health365, once it has been reviewed by your GP. We'll only contact you if there are abnormalities. If you prefer to be informed regardless, please let us know when the tests are ordered. For a thorough results explanation, please kindly book a nurse or GP consultation.
Minor Accident and Injuries
We provide comprehensive care for accidents and minor injuries, including dressings, wound checks, and stitches when necessary. If you're uncertain whether a GP or nurse consultation is appropriate, please don't hesitate to contact us at 09 846 0002 to speak with our nurses, who can provide guidance.
Liquid Nitrogen
Experience fast and effective treatment with liquid nitrogen for viral warts, sun-damaged skin, skin tags, and various benign lesions, typically administered via swab or spray. While one treatment is often sufficient, occasional repetition may be necessary after two weeks. A nurse appointment is required for liquid nitrogen application, and a doctor's consultation may be necessary depending on the type of lesion.
Cervical Screening
Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers. Regular cervical screening and human papillomavirus (HPV) immunisation are the best ways to protect yourself. Cervical screening used to be done by taking a sample of cells from your cervix. This was knows as a 'smear test'. From 12 September 2023 the cervical screening test changed to a human papilloma virus (HPV) self-swab screening test.
For cervical screening, there are two options:
1. HPV self-swab, requiring 15-minutes with a nurse. Or
2. A traditional cervical smear test, requiring 15-minutes with a nurse or GP.
HPV self-swab is sufficient for most patients, unless specific concerns arise, in which case our GP or nurse will advise accordingly. Click here for more information on cervical screening.
Patient who meet the following criterias are eligible for free cervical screenings:
-
are Māori or Pacific, any age
-
are 30 years and over who are under-screened (have not had a test in the past 5 years), or have never had a screening test
-
require follow-up testing, any age
-
hold a Community Services Card, any age.
ECG
An ECG is a recording of your heart's electrical activity. Electrode patches are attached to your skin to measure the electrical impulses given off by your heart. The result is a trace that can be read by a doctor. It can give information of previous heart attacks or problems with the heart rhythm.
If you have any concerns regarding your heart health, please call our nurses at 098460002 or book an appointment with your GP. In case of emergencies, dial 911 or visit Whitecross or the Emergency Department.
Travel Advice/Immunisations
Before traveling to another country, ensure your medication is organized, and be aware that certain destinations may require specific vaccines. Your doctor can advise on necessary immunizations and other medical considerations for your destination. Some vaccines may need to be ordered based on your travel plans, so please inform us when scheduling your appointment. While you likely have immunizations for living in New Zealand, additional injections may be necessary for regions like Africa or South America, where protection against diseases such as rabies or malaria is essential. Please note yellow fever vaccinations are only available at approved centers; click here to view the centers in New Zealand.
Please book a consultation with your preferred GP or Dr Rebecca who has completed a certificate in travel medicine.
Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC)
LARC methods are very effective at preventing unplanned pregnancy and are “fit and forget” forms of contraception – you don’t need to remember them every day or every month.
There are two LARC methods:
1. Intrauterine Contraceptive Devices (IUCD or IUD) are inserted through the cervix into a woman’s uterus. IUCDs may be either hormonal (Mirena® or Jaydess® ) or non-hormonal (copper IUCD).
2. Jadelle® is a hormone-releasing implant that is inserted just under the skin of the upper arm.
Depending on the type of device, it will need to be changed after between three and ten years.
Click here to find more information on LARC.
To obtain a LARC (long-acting reversible contraception), you will first need an initial consultation with your GP, followed by booking a 30-minute consultation with Dr. Sue, Dr. Jean Peterson, Dr. Gina, or Dr. Rebecca.
LARC is funded for eligible patients meeting the following criteria:
-
Residing in Auckland or Waitemata catchment area, OR being enrolled in or presenting to a practice within Auckland or Waitemata catchment. Additionally, eligibility requires meeting at least one of the following criteria: Economic deprivation (Q5), holding a Community Service Card (CSC), identifying as Maori or Pacific ethnicity, or being at risk of poor outcomes from unplanned pregnancy.
Spirometry
Spirometry is a breathing test that measures how effectively your lungs are working. It is a simple test using a device called a spirometer and will take 15 to 30 minutes to do.
It shows how much air a patient’s lungs can hold (their volume) and how much air can be breathed in and out (inhaled and exhaled) which is called flow.
This tool is used to assess damage caused by conditions like COPD, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, and cystic fibrosis so you can be given the tight treatment.
Driver's Licence
Elderly Drivers
Elderly Drivers must renew their driver’s licence at the age of 75yr and 80yr and then every two years after that.
Patients make appointment to see the Nurse to do a cognitive test, and then the Doctor.
If your doctor thinks you are medically fit to drive, they will issue a Medical Certificate in order to renew your licence.
If the doctor is unsure about your ability to drive safely, they may issue you with a Medical Certificate for driver licence, provided you pass an on-road safety test with a testing officer.
Other Licenses
Other licenses that require a visit to the Doctor for a Medical Certificate are:
-
Applying for or renewing Heavy vehicle licence (class 2,3,4,5) and who have not provided a medical certificate within the last five years.
-
Applying for or renewing P, V, I, O licence and have not provided a certificate within the last 5 years
-
Anyone with a medical condition that may affect their ability to drive safely.
Infusion
Infusion therapy is when medication or fluids are administered through a needle or catheter. It’s a way of delivering medication that can’t be taken orally, or that needs to be dispensed at a controlled pace.

Please make an appointment with your doctor to see whether this is an option, or we may refer you to an appropriate specialist.
