Te Tumu Waiora
Te Tumu Waiora is a primary mental health and addictions care model in New Zealand, aiming to provide accessible, integrated support for those facing mental distress or addiction challenges. It features two key roles: Health Improvement Practitioners (HIP) and Health Coaches, both of whom work in-house at Four Kauri Family Medical Centre to ensure immediate and personalized care.

Health Improvement Practitioners (HIP)
Health Improvement Practitioners (HIP) serve in a counselor-like capacity, offering brief, targeted interventions to help individuals navigate immediate mental health and addiction concerns. They provide a safe and supportive space for patients to discuss their challenges and work collaboratively on developing strategies to enhance mental well-being. HIP offers free consultations lasting 30 to 60 minutes, and those interested in seeing a HIP must book a consult with their GP.

Health Coaches
Health Coaches focus on facilitating sustainable lifestyle changes by empowering patients with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve their overall health. They provide personalized guidance and support, helping individuals set and achieve health-related goals. Health Coaches offer free consultations lasting 15 to 30 minutes, and a consult with a GP is required to start working with a Health Coach.
