A Bit About Me
I grew up in Avondale and New Windsor, and have enjoyed working as a GP for 30 years now, mostly in the West. This included a long stint in Titirangi - many of my patients still hail from there. I trained at Auckland Medical School, graduating in 1986, and I also have a Dip Obs&Gynae. The relationships a GP forms with patients and their families are what I love about the job - and what my passion is within it. I do a lot of women’s health and menopause, and also mental health. I work one day a week in a high school and I really enjoy the young people and their challenges. I feel very grateful to work within a team of great people at Four Kauri in a really collegial way, so there’s always support and a second opinion, which is a special thing to have in a general practice. Outside of work, I have three grown up children, a special niece and nephews, and one grand-dog; family takes up a lot of my time. Most of us do ParkRun every week and so does everyone who spends more than 5 minutes around my obsessed husband. I love eating out, cooking, reading and doing restorative yoga, which is really just lying on the floor wrapped in blankets. Everyone should try it. I don’t speak any other languages, but I do try to listen.
