About Us
Past and present
Four Kauri Family Medical Centre in Mt Albert was pioneered by Bill and Lindsay Johnstone in 1951. It is a well established and trusted local medical practice and greatly valued by the local community. Generations of the same families have been patients here. Its namesake originated from the four Kauri trees that were planted at the front entrance by Dr. Johnstone.
The original practice was located at 728 New North Road. Sadly in 2015, the practice building burned down and the practice was temporarily housed at Mt Albert Motor Inn. The practice found steady footing in 2017 and relocated to its new premises at 880 New North Road in the heart of Mt Albert, near the intersection of Carrington Rd and Mt. Albert Rd. The inside of a gracious double-story landmark dwelling was completely renovated into a purpose-built medical facility with 6 surgery suites, while the exterior was extended. Additionally, 13 car parking spots are available at the rear of the building.
